Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineer - Material Processes to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA, supporting the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (PAICoE) organization.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with working on military aircraft
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
Experience with LO materials
