Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Section manager 2 to direct a team within a section of the Aerospace Vehicle and Systems Integration (AVSI), in the Mission Effectiveness and Thread Lead (METL) department.  This position requires the candidate to be 100% on-site in Roy, Utah.  The successful candidate will join the Sentinel Program's System Engineering Team in the development of weapon system technical maturation, requirement analysis, verification planning, and programmatic system engineering technical direction.

This is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall functional oversight and leadership of a Systems Engineering group of up to 15 engineers as well as performance of productive work on programs. The candidate will spend ~20% of their time on support of the organization and ~80% of their time on technical program work. The management side involves organizational administrative activities and helping their employees’ performance and career development through guidance and training. The direct program responsibilities may include system architecture development, requirements development/management, requirement verification planning, system design/analysis, modeling & simulation, model-based systems engineering, IPT/product owner leadership, specialty engineering, or other appropriate technical functions.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years related experience or a Masters Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience

  • Managing people preferred

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years; must have current Sentinel Special Access Program (SAP) approval

  • 1+ year of experience with Agile, JIRA, Confluence, DOORS or Cameo.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Earned-Value Management (EVM) trained.

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of Sentinel program ROM, BCR, and BOE efforts.

  • Understanding of TMRR Cost and Schedule packages (>$100M) to advise TMRR Lead.

  • 3+ years’ experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

  • Solid understanding of the Systems Engineering and Integration and Test processes on the Sentinel Program with emphasis on Interfaces.

  • Strong customer-facing engagement; demonstrated ability to present complex concepts to internal and external stakeholders with clarity and brevity.

  • Ability to define, refine, and burn down execution criteria for each TMRR Major Program Event (MPE), driving cost and schedule alignment-to-objectives across the Sentinel program.

  • Knowledge of MPE partnership with program management, scheduling, and finance teams, with application of EVM principles to strengthen cost and schedule integration across the Sentinel program.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
