Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking two (2) Systems Engineering Department Manager 3 to join our Engineering and Manufacturing team within Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division to be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL. Relocation assistance may be provided.
What Youβll Get To Do:
As the Department Manager for MS&A you will be responsible for managing career and personnel development, enabling program success through people, processes, tools, and training, and providing program and business support where needed to help ensure overall success. You will also have frequent contact with equivalent level managers and programs to maintain and exceed health and performance across the organization for all programs.
The successful candidate will be the functional / managerial leader of a team of engineers focused on Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A). This team is focused on design analysis & optimization, technical performance measure (TPM) reporting, and weapon system assessment for systems in all phases of the lifecycle. The ability to understand this scope is essential.
As the Department Manager for Systems Safety, you will be responsible for managing planning, risk, project performance, addressing, schedule, technical quality, and addressing technical or operational problems when necessary. Will assist engineers and program staff to develop and maintain talent within the organization. Have frequent contact with equivalent level managers and programs to maintain and exceed health and performance for all programs. The successful candidate will lead engineers spanning the System Safety teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
- Provides ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
- Accountability for recruiting, staffing and retaining talent to deliver on the objectives.
- Supporting proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis.
- Owning and leading improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent.
- Mentor, develop, and train your section managers, and overall employee base.
- Will rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group.
- Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Youβll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 8 years of related experience
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope (
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Managing people experience preferred.
- Active TS clearance
- Existing Sentinel Program Access
- Master's Degree with 9 years of experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) preferably an Engineering degree.
- Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira
- Experience on ICBMs
- Experience creating or growing new sections or departments.
- Experience working in Engineering Analysis tools such as Matlab, Python, STK, Tirem and WEFCOM
- Experience specifying, developing, verifying, validating, and/or accrediting physics-based models
- MS&A experience integrating multiple models into higher-level assessments
- Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) experience
- Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution.
- Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines.
- Experience on ICBMs.
- Experience creating or growing new sections or departments.
- Experience managing an engineering team and experience preparing a large complex system for functional testing/verification.
- Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710, RCC 319-14, and/or RCC 324-11.
- Familiarity with NEPA and facilities development.
- Safety Professional (ASP) Certificate.
- Weapon System Experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience).
