Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As a member of the Systems Manufacturing Engineering team, you will support manufacturing operations to produce precision, high-quality, inertial measurement and navigation systems.
What you will get to do:
Interact frequently with production operators to understand and troubleshoot manufacturing issues and receive inputs on potential process improvements.
Create process flow diagrams and define the sequence of operations for build instructions.
Lead investigations of production issues to determine root causes and coordinate cross-functional team actions to address material deficiencies, equipment malfunctions, and assembly process errors.
Perform critical evaluations of new systems designs and influence design and materials engineering decisions to ensure manufacturability.
Represent manufacturing and provide technical inputs for supplier capability assessments.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes while considering cost/benefit analysis.
Utilize statistical process control and data driven methods to guide process, yield, and cost improvements.
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer level, depending on candidate experience.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal Manufacturing Engineer:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related STEM field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master's degree in engineering or a related STEM field with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience working in an engineering environment supporting manufacturing processes
Experience performing troubleshooting of production issues related to process, equipment, or materials
Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists
Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
US Citizenship is required

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master's degree with 6 in engineering or a related STEM field or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience working in an engineering environment supporting manufacturing processes
Experience performing troubleshooting of production issues related to process, equipment, or materials
Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists
Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:
Experience providing direct engineering support for electro-optical assembly equipment, processes, and materials
Experience developing and implementing new designs and products into manufacturing
Experience working in a highly regulated industry with strict customer/process requirements
Experience in defense or related industry
SAP experience
Lean/6-sigma training
Experience with computer aided design tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Strong project management experience (work breakdown, task planning, scheduling, performance-to-plan tracking)
