Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Our Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for support projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes.
You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.
The Reliability Engineer will support all levels of total system products including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The activities that this engineer will help execute within these levels will be those pertaining to technical planning, system integration, ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, cost and risk, reliability / maintainability / availability calculations, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. This person will help develop, coordinate, and conduct product life studies and evaluations of engineering designs throughout the program life cycle (e.g., business capture, development, production, and sustainment).
Responsibilities:
Assess designs by evaluating engineering needs, system/component specifications, use cases, and prior system performance
Assess system/component field performance using field data and use that data to create statistical reports, interpret historical trends, and help identify factors affecting field performance
Use field data to create and maintain a comprehensive timeline of field failures, modifications, time change items, etc. to better understand field behavior and help support other teams’ analyses (e.g., spares analysis)
Maintain a failure and corrective actions database (e.g., FRACAS) that tracks engineering solutions efficacy
Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects and requirements
Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
Support subcontractor evaluation, selection and coordinate activities with respect to reliability needs
Prepare for, present at and participate in design reviews.
Effectively engage with external Customers and internal stakeholders
Generate high quality work products on-schedule and on-budget
Identify continuous improvement efforts as reliability engineering tasks are performed
Support program Engineering Configuration Change Board (CCB) and Corrective Action Board (CAB)
Basic Qualifications:
Must either have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, OR 1 year of experience with a PhD in a STEM discipline
2 years of industry experience related to reliability engineering in design and/or product sustainment
Experience in MS EXCEL.
Exposure to statistical concepts such as descriptive, probabilistic, inferential, etc.
Some exposure to coding and data analysis and exploration in Python, R, Matlab, or similar software.
2 years of industry experience related to reliability engineering in design and/or product sustainment
Experiences with multiple modeling tools, such as ReliaSoft/RELEX Toolset (Reliability, Maintainability, OpSim, FMECA, Fault Tree, FRACAS, RGA, and Weibull++), AMSAA Models, VMETRIC, RAPTOR, etc.), used for reliability and sparing analysis.
Experience in: root cause analysis, test design/execution/data analysis as applicable to accelerated life, reliability growth, and reliability modeling.
Experience related to assessing and addressing R&M requirements for design development activities
Experience developing R&M program plans for new systems or for sustainment of existing systems to include staff planning, scheduling, collecting historical data, establishing configuration control processes for large program data storage and R&M software tools analysis
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. No Relocation assistance provided
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the military, government, commercial aerospace industry (e.g. aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies)
Knowledge of Military Specifications, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and other related technical and contractual documents
Knowledge of core reliability and maintainability analysis and activities
Background in performing R&M analysis of aircraft
Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
R&M predictions and allocations
R&M design influence, requirements assessment and tracking, and maintenance task analysis
System integration and testing, ESS, ALT, HALT, Maintainability Demonstrations, and Reliability Demonstrations
Growth Planning and Testing, and Sparing analysis
