Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking highly qualified flight test engineering leaders for an Edwards AFB, CA program. The program is seeking to fill a leadership position for a Mission Systems Flight Test Engineering Manager to lead planning and execution through the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development flight test program that will follow. This manager is expected will lead and provide functional management for a team of approximately 20 system test engineers in a group of flight test disciplines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Mission Systems disciplines include avionics, navigation systems, radar systems and ground support systems.
- Must have an extensive aviation engineering and flight test background with strong technical and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills to support extensive executive-level interaction and will report to the System Ground and Flight Test Senior Manager.
- Collaborate with government and contractor leaders to develop detailed test plans and drive an integrated team approach to problem solving.
- Thorough understanding of flight test safety planning, test operations, and test reporting is required.
- Responsible for developing resource forecasts and achieving cost and schedule performance goals.
- This position will be located at Edwards AFB, CA with an expectation of 25% travel. Candidate must be willing to work extended shifts, nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet program schedule and objectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have 9 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (7 years w/ Masters)
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance with full investigation within the last 6 years
- Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within reasonable time
- Experience in a system test environment
- Perform resource planning and staffing; staff development, including skills training and career support; performance management, including employee goal setting, performance reviews, and issues resolution.
- Knowledge of flight test planning, safety planning, test operations, and test reporting
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Significant experience in a developmental/operational test maintenance environment
- Significant experience with one or more mission system disciplines
- Minimum of 3 years in a defined leadership role, with functional home room manager experience a plus
- Experience in a US Air Force Combined Test Force
- Experience leading an aircraft operation under DCMA Instruction 8210 oversight
- Experience with Earned Value Management
- Experience building and maintaining a high performance team in a high paced aerospace environment
