Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Manager Programs 2 to join our team in Chandler, AZ to support our Launch Vehicle's Major Sub-Systems Cell (MSC) team.

As a Manager Programs 2 your role will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. Ready to join forces with our visionary team?

Due to the sensitive nature of our work this is a fully on-site position; hybrid or remote work is not available.  Relocation is not available.

In this role you:

  • Direct all phases of programs from inception through completion within the Major Sub-Systems Cell (MSC).

  • Are responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of all programs within the cell. Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes as it pertains to deliverable program need dates. Involved with the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contracts.

  • Act as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

  • Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test.

  • Develop new business or expand the product line with the customer.

  • Maintain visibility of lower-level builds within TPS, Avionics and Cables, ensuring integration and alignment with program milestones while addressing cost and schedule risks.

  • Lead coordination across internal teams and suppliers to meet contractual obligations and resolve issues.

  • Provide visibility into build and test performance through program reviews and ensures delivery against performance requirements.

  • Engage with functional teams to assess risks, identify mitigations, and oversee contractual compliance for all hardware.

  • Establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules. Identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changes to contractual specifications.

  • Direct the work of employees assigned to the program which include engineering, quality, technicians, schedulers and planners to ensure successful execution of all program objectives related to cost, schedule, and performance.

  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring WIP and for intervention and problem solving with line managers, support groups and Programs.

Core Responsibilities include the following:

  • Propose, plan/baseline, and execute operations plans, per Scheduling and Customer needs.

  • Work closely with scheduling and production functional manager to plan capacity for the cell.

  • Identify problems that put operations plans at risk and coordinate solutions with different teams.

  • Champion and lead Continuous Improvement activities to resolve problems and improve efficiency.

  • Coordinate responses with functional organizations to keep operations and projects on schedule.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6+ years of related experience

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, which typically requires US Citizenship

  • Experience in Manufacturing Operations and/or Program Management

  • Experience collaborating with employees within a department and across functions

  • Fluent with MS Office products - PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Word

  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance

  • Experience indirectly managing a cross functional team

  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and/or Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

  • Competency with managing production in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment

  • Experience leading Lean Events -Kaizen, VSM, etc.

  • Experience with Electronic Manufacturing Work Instructions

  • Six Sigma Lean Certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
