Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) for the Sunnyvale, California site. Coverage will include the Sunnyvale site and field service locations. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector Environmental, Health, Safety & Fire Protection (EHSFP) Team. This position will report to the sector EHSFP Director and will manage a team of environmental, health and safety professionals with a focus on regulatory compliance, injury prevention, fire prevention, and sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing injury prevention programs, developing compliance strategies for new and existing health and safety regulations and/or company policies, and supporting programs in a rapidly evolving environment.
Specific functional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage and implement Environmental, Health & Safety compliance, and management systems in accordance with government and company requirements.
Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance health & safety programs to ensure compliance, prevent injuries, and build a strong safety culture.
Manage hazardous material management and chemical tracking and inventory programs.
Manage fire protection and life safety programs to reduce risk of personnel injury and/or property damage.
Evaluate proposed federal, state, and local Environmental, Health & Safety compliance laws and regulations to determine impact to compliance programs and business operations.
Promote professional development of EHS team and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.
Provide clear assignments, help employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, create an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and build a culture that motivates employees to their highest level of performance.
Partner with management of internal functional organizations to continuously improve the EH&S culture, awareness, and accountability.
Interface with regulatory representatives, sector EHSFP staff, senior management, site EHS committees, and union leadership.
Demonstrate personal integrity and high ethical standards in customer contacts as well as all internal relationships.
The selected candidate will be able to:
Organize and multi-task various Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs effectively.
Engage effectively with subordinates and delegate responsibilities with productive outcome.
Independently prioritize, plan and execute in rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.
Strong management, coaching, and communication skills.
Provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.
Recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of EHS experience or a Master’s degree and 6 years of EHS experience
Minimum of 3 years of Leadership/Management experience
Experience leading and executing process improvement initiatives
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with union represented employees and leadership.
Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
