Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
As the Lab Cognizant Engineer you will be supporting aircraft systems development and qualification within a laboratory environment. You will be responsible for assisting laboratory design, test planning and preparation, scheduling of test events, and leading the execution of test procedures, contributing to test readiness reviews, conducting briefings, performing acceptance testing and integration events. The selected candidate should thrive in a dynamic work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Lead test events ranging from developmental to formal testing
- Effectively assign roles and responsibilities to team members by clearly communicating test priorities and expectations
- Ensure test stations and assets are configured and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware.
- Work closely with QA to maintain and validate test station software and hardware.
- Establish and maintain standards of test conduct and rigor
- Effectively manage lab configuration through detailed documentation
- Accurately communicate lab and test status to leadership via written and oral means
- Troubleshoot component and system level issues/discrepancies
Work Schedule: This position supports a 4x10, 2nd shift schedule, working Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. Please note that hours and shifts are subject to change to meet customer demand. A shift differential will be paid where applicable.
Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at a Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 3) based on the qualifications below.
Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 2)
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related professional/military experience.
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment.
Experience using test equipment to support diagnostic and troubleshooting activities. (e.g., digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
Principal Lab Cognizant Engineer (Level 3)
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment.
- Experience using test equipment to support diagnostic and troubleshooting activities. (e.g., digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Aircraft Ground Test and Operations.
- Expertise with reading and comprehending schematic diagrams.
- Experience with Electronic Principles, MIL STD protocol for 1553, 429, and 1394 busses.
- Familiarity with avionics systems and equipment, Test Stations, or Lab Operations.
- Experience with software deployments and deployments tools.
