Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Fabrication Shop Manager based in Salt Lake City, UT.
The Fabrication Shop Manager is responsible for leading a team within a supervisory organization, managing resources, and ensuring program or project objectives are met.
What you will get to do:
- Lead and manage the machine shop & fast reaction shop, ensuring adequate staffing and compliance with company policies.
- Oversee the creation of job requisitions and positions in Workday, including selecting job profiles, job titles, and job descriptions. The job description should include the role summary, basic qualifications, and preferred qualifications, tailored to the specific position being filled.
- Manage hiring processes, including internal transfers and external recruitment, in partnership with HR Business Partners.
- Ensure compliance with security, documentation, and operational requirements, especially when working with consultants or contingent workers.
- Approve timecards, leave requests, and monitor compliance with company policies (e.g., jury duty, alcohol at company events).
- Maintain accountability for team performance, supplier management, and program deliverables.
- Support business continuity, crisis management, and resource prioritization during disruptions.
- Collaborate with other managers and departments to achieve organizational goals and support employee development.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Basic Requirements for the Fabrication Shop Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment; OR a master’s degree and 6 or more years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment. (An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.)
- Experience in team leadership, resource management, and compliance.
- Experience with company policies, security requirements, and operational procedures.
- Experience evaluating drawings for machining processes
- Experience evaluating drawings for bill of material creation and quoting
Preferred Qualifications for the Fabrication Shop Manager:
- Basic test station experience
- Experience managing a storeroom
- Experience creating and managing job requisitions, positions, and hiring processes.
- Experience overseeing the operations of the machine shop and small electronics fab shop
- Experience evaluating potential work going into the machine shop and small electronics fab shop and provide quote estimates as needed
