Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Engineer Technician 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Redondo Beach, CA, operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has No Remote or Hybrid work available.

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector team is seeking a talented and highly motivated Engineering Technician 3/4 to help support all aspects/disciplines in our most advanced systems. This project involves the development of technologies that utilize Graphics Processor Units (GPU), supercomputers, and other advanced hardware for the design and demonstration of algorithms in hands on environments through the use of surrogate aircraft and software simulations.

The ideal candidate will have electronics and computer proficiency, hands-on assembly experience, and integration and troubleshooting skills in a lab and demonstration environment. This is a very unique role that requires the candidate to exhibit proficiency in electrical, computer, and mechanical facets involved with developing, integrating, and testing functions.

Primary responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting all aspects/disciplines in the design
  • Integration, and test of hardware and software systems.

This person must enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position offers multiple opportunities to work with other highly energetic team members both within the immediate team as well as coordinate collaborative development across projects and teams.

The selected individual is expected to work for and under the direction of Engineers and or Engineering Manager. Candidate must possess the troubleshooting and interpersonal skills that will enable them to help manage statements of work and assignments in addition to addressing issues within the entire team.

*This position will be filled at either level 2 or level 3 based on the qualifications below*

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) required and minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

- Engineering Technician 3: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) required and minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience

Basic Qualifications for both Level 2 and Level 3:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance within a reasonable amount of time for business needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable amount of time for business needs
  • Electronics & Computer Proficiency: Skilled in wiring, cabling, and connector work for electronic subsystems; comfortable configuring and running Linux-based computers and data-acquisition (DAQ) hardware; basic network-setup knowledge required
  • Hands-On Assembly Experience: Proven ability to fabricate, install, and operate custom test rigs for hardware and software testing; experience assembling mechanical structures and integrating electronic components
  • Integration & Troubleshooting Skills: Able to connect, configure, and verify communication between hardware, software, and networking elements; demonstrated capability to diagnose and resolve issues across electronic, mechanical, and software domains

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Department of Defense Secret or Top Secret level security clearance
  • 5+ years of integration and testing experience including planning, set-up, and test execution
  • Extensive electronics, computer, and mechanical system set up, integration, and checkout experience
  • Ability to assess anomalies and develop resolutions in conjunction with Engineering
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and development environments
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $66,600.00 - $1,110,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
