This position will be located in San Diego, CA.
The selected candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to support development, testing, verification, and integration of a Flight Control Actuation System (FCAS) into an air vehicle as a Responsible Engineer. Key responsibilities include: Management of supplier development of an actuation system to meet air vehicle performance, function, and environmental requirements. Support development of supplier Safety of Flight (SoF) verification planning, testing, and certification activities. Develop, test, and integrate air vehicle software to interface with and control the FCAS. Develop test plans and execute test campaigns to verify integrated system functionality in both hardware-in-the-loop lab simulation environments and on air vehicle. Support both ground test and flight test activities. Integrate system, support system checkout, and accomplish prompt troubleshooting. Analyze ground test and air vehicle flight test data to receive both flight readiness review and airworthiness approval.
This position may be filled at the Engineer or Principal Engineer Level.
Basic Qualifications for Engineer:
Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no of experience.
Knowledge of subsystem integration and developing / maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Knowledge of requirements management and verification practices
Knowledge of system checkout and troubleshooting practices
Experience developing test plans and procedures for system integration
Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Clearance
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer:
Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience
Experience with subsystem integration and developing/maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Experience with requirements management and verification practices
Experience with system checkout and troubleshooting practices
Experience developing test plans and procedures for system integration
Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; self-starter
Excellent technical writer with experience in technical report generation
Experience developing, testing, and integrating Flight Control Actuation Systems
Experience with supplier management; technical artifact review and adjudication as part of development activities
Experience with avionics development or background in electronics engineering
Experience with Electro-Mechanical Actuation (EMA) systems
Experience with motor controller software in flight critical systems
Experience with Fault-Detection, Failure-Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) in flight critical systems
Experience with Safety of Flight (SoF) and/or airworthiness certification testing and artifact generation
Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink
Proficient in IADS screen development and data review
Experience with airworthiness certification activities in flight critical systems
Active / in-scope DoD Secret Clearance
