Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Associate Engineer Tool to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting El Segundo, CA.

The Associate Engineer Tool will be part of our Tooling Team and will support tool development for composite part fabrication, handling, and assembly for the commercial and defense aerospace industries.  Engineers get the opportunity to manage work from design concept thru fabrication and implementation.  Our Tooling Team works independently, but interacts closely with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to achieve expectations. 

Northrop Grumman AS is looking for you to join our team as an Integration Tool Engineer working on Control Account Management tasks. This position will work with the Tooling Department managing various tooling stamens of work for a variety of programs. As an Integration focal, the individual will work with a design engineering, manufacturing engineering, Program Operations Leadership business management and Scheduling team to gather necessary information for cost control, forecasting, and proposals. The CAM will update Earned Value Management (EVM) tools and produce required data products, review monthly Earned Value (EV) data and provide cost account status, and support program requirements. Additionally, this individual will manage multiple projects across working directly with Tool Design Engineering as well as with inhouse and offsite fabrication.

The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborating with internal and external customers.  You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, CAD Designers, safety, and operations. This position requires 100% work on-site located at El Segundo, CA.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with internal and external customers.

  • Coordinate, develop, and execute plans.

  • Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actions.

  • Develop and evaluate process improvements.

  • Develop manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment in support of our process work instructions and visual aids of our shop planning process and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Manage all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble and validate.

  • Track budget actuals against plans and financial performance

Basic Qualifications Associate Engineer Tool:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM related field with experience in engineering, design, tooling, fabrication, or manufacturing/production environment

  • Experience standing up production assembly line or cost center

  • Experience utilizing Siemens NX/CATIA CAD tools or applicable 3D CAD systems

  • Ability to work in a high pace environment

  • Ability to work with minimal oversight

  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

  • Experience with Aerospace Tooling 

  • Ability to Read/understand blueprints/GD&T in accordance with ASME 14.5

  • Experience working with Earned Value Management (EVM)

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,400.00 - $104,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
