Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Associate Energetic Engineer/Energetic Engineer – Level 1 or Level 2 to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking an engineer eager to dive into the hands on world of rocket hardware manufacturing. In this role you will develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes that support the component refurbishment, assembly, integrity test, and the assembly test and checkout of the Thrust Vector Control and Avionics systems for NASA’s Space Launch System Solid Rocket Booster program. This role also involves preventative maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting potential problems to resolution of the test and production support equipment.

This position will work a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off.

As demand grows, we can anticipate scheduled Friday workdays, the possibility of rotating shifts, and the need for overtime.

In this job, you will:

  • Support electrical and mechanical production support equipment (PSE), assuring readiness via calibration verification and validation testing, and troubleshooting failures as necessary.

  • Support TVC fuel, hydraulic, and pneumatic acceptance test operations as a team member under the direction of the Test Conductor.

  • Support Acceptance Check Out of the Avionics systems assuring communication (command-response) for the various control systems, and Integration tests under direction of the Test Conductor.

  • Support electrical Development and Operational Flight Instrumentation (DFI/OFI) installations and tests.

  • Create and maintain electronic process planning and test documents.  

  • Document and drive corrective actions for hardware nonconformances.  

  • Document and drive corrective actions for test equipment anomalies and failures. 

  • Interpret complex drawings and specs; translate them into clear process guidance.  

  • Clarify work instruction intent for operators and answer technical questions.  

  • Verify readiness of work instructions, flight critical parts, and materials for new processes.  

  • Participate in pre and post build reviews and suggest improvements.  

  • Audit manufacturing steps to uncover efficiency or waste reduction opportunities.  

  • Other duties as assigned

  

This position can be filled at either a Level 1 or Level 2.

Basic Qualifications for Level 1:

  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 6 months of professional/relevant experience.   

  • No clearance required to start

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex engineering drawings and specifications.  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) for documentation, data tracking, and collaboration.  

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional/relevant  experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 0 years of professional/relevant  experience.   

  • No clearance required to start

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex engineering drawings and specifications.  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) for documentation, data tracking, and collaboration.  

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Labview

  • Background in industrial machinery

  • Aerospace / Defense hydraulic component processing

  • MATLAB

  • Maximo

  • Root-Cause Analysis

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
