Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer or Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
Responsibilities
- Perform aerodynamic characterization efforts utilizing analytical methods
- Work closely with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) dataset providers and assess air vehicle impacts
- Supports flight test, acquisition and analysis of flight test data working closely with flight test and flight controls disciplines
- General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and advanced techniques
- Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks
- Innovates solutions to a variety of technical challenges of increasing scope and complexity
- Provide technical analysis data for substantiation data reports and other airworthiness artifacts required to support flight clearances
- Supports air vehicle aerodynamic database development
- Interact with other flight science disciplines and providing trade study support and guidance on data quality
Basic Qualifications
- Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) with an Aerodynamics focus area and 1 year of relevant engineering experience
- Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.
- Experience with fixed wing aerodynamics
- Experience with aerodynamic tools and techniques
- Experience with Matlab for data analysis and data reduction
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree discipline in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering with concentration in aerodynamics and Parameter Identification
- Flight test support and data analysis experience including system and parameter identification
- Experience generating aerodynamic databases for 6DOF simulation
- Aerodynamic/propulsion force and moment accounting
- Demonstrated record of working hard, strong communication skills, and being accountable
