Northrop Grumman is seeking Technical Editor Writers . This position will be located at our Mission Systems sector in Sunnyvale, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors division, Marine Systems business unit. Marine Systems is a leading provider of launcher systems, propulsion systems, and power generation systems for naval submarines and surface ships.
Roles and Responsibilities
Write and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications
Communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
Develop subject knowledge by interviewing engineering/manufacturing teams, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
Takes strong ownership to drive documentation through process from inputs to final distribution
Prepare illustrations from, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
Performs quality review of materials.
Executes verification/validation of procedures through hardware design, testing, up to final document distribution.
Develops new concepts, techniques, and standards, Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Support implementation to a team of technical writers and text processors.
Works with management on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in presenting to internal and external stakeholders at reviews/documentation conferences.
Develop agendas and captures minutes to assess documentation impacts.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for an Associate Technical Editor Writer:
Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Be majoring in or having majored in Technical and Environmental Communication, Technical Writing, English, Communication, or other related field
Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Microsoft Office Software experience
Adobe Acrobat experience
Basic Qualifications for a Technical Editor Writer:
Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Be majoring in or having majored in Technical and Environmental Communication, Technical Writing, English, Communication, or other related field
Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Microsoft Office Software experience
Adobe Acrobat experience
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
Experience with US military documentation standards
Experience with Publication Software
Experience with Illustration software
Familiarity with electronics/wiring/schematic diagrams
Salary Range:
Level: $57,300-$85,900
Level 2: $69,000-$103,400
