Founding AI Engineer, Underwriting & AI Risk
Job Description
We’re building the Insurer for the Agent Economy. Mount (YC P26) enables safe industry-wide adoption of AI systems, agents, and autonomous workflows.
We want a sharp, AI-native engineer to own the first version of our underwriting engine. You’ll work across risk modelling, decision logic, internal tooling, and early AI security features that help us understand and price risk for deployed AI systems.
This role is a fit for someone early in their career who is unusually strong. You might be a standout student, recent grad, or young engineer who learns fast, ships fast, and wants real ownership. Mount’s team is an intentionally small collection of people who are excellent at what they’ve joined it for, so you should be too.
What you’ll do:
- Build the MVP underwriting engine used to score and price AI risk
- Design the data flows, heuristics, and product logic behind underwriting decisions
- Ship early AI security features that improve risk assessment
- Work directly with founders on product, underwriting, and operations
You should be comfortable going from vague problem to working system, using AI tools heavily and natively, and owning messy, cross-functional work. This is an on-site role with high ownership.
