Responsibilities:
The Human Resources (HR) team at JPL is on a voyage of innovation, discovery, and modernization that will allow us to continue to support the JPL mission and quests. AskHR, the Human Resources Solutions Center, is a centralized function designed to handle a variety of HR-related services. AskHR will provide higher-level customer service support to all JPL employees, retirees and applicants as a single point of entry to access all HR services.
As an HR Support Specialist, you will provide direct support to employees and centralized HR functions, assisting with a wide range ofHR-related programs and services.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and issues related to Human Resources.
Provides information to employees regarding established human resources policies, benefits, forms, records and practices including but not limited to Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation, Benefits, Learning, and Leave of Absence.
Provides administrative support for a variety of HR programs including but not limited to new hire orientation, drug testing, verification of employment, tuition reimbursement, and LOA.
Communicate and explain information related to a variety of benefits programs (insurance plans, health plans, retirement plans, leaves of absence and sick leave).
Administer all aspects of the Tuition Reimbursement program, working directly with participants to answer inquiries and explain program guidelines.
Administer the onboarding process for New Hires by closely tracking their progress and coordinating with vendors to ensure all contingencies are completed and cleared prior to the start date.
Assess the full scope of issues presented by employees or partners, identify root causes and potential downstream impacts, and provide clear, effective solutions.
Utilize available resources and tools to independently research and resolve employee inquiries, escalating only complex or unresolved issues to the appropriate Centers of Excellence (COEs).
Utilize case management system to process, document and resolve inquiries
Deliver timely, accurate employee support by providing information, guiding navigation of HR sites, and assisting with form completion
Complete daily HR transaction processing in the HRIS, execute data audits and updates to uphold accuracy and integrity, and lead/support annual system upgrades and testing.
Maintain both manual and automated personnel and programmatic records.
Regularly run and distribute various reports for HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and the JPL Organization.
Assist in the continuous development and improvement of information and processes required to perform quality service delivery.
Provide information to authorized individuals and agencies in accordance with established procedures.
Performs various other support duties as required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience, an Associate's degree with 4 years or related experience, or a High School diploma with 8 years of related experience.
Minimum of 1 year related customer service experience.
Minimum of two years of Human Resource Administration experience.
General understanding/knowledge of HR disciplines through training and experience.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, flexibility in working in a fast-paced team environment, effectively prioritizing and coordinating multiple assignments.
Excellent customer-focused communication skills (patience, attentiveness, empathy).
Strong interpersonal skills and team-based orientation.
Excellent written & oral communication skills.
Demonstrate ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in daily work.
Demonstrate ability to analyze and solve problems to achieve first call resolution.
Ability to work and solve problems independently utilizing available resources and tools.

The hiring range displayed below is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training.
