Mission Brief
As a Ground Systems Working Student, you will support the design and setup of a new control room for launch operations while contributing to broader systems engineering and development activities within the Ground Systems team. You will help translate operational needs into structured and practical system solutions across both physical and software domains.
Your Role in Our Space Mission
- Support the design and layout of a control room environment (operator workstations, screen setups, room configuration)
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of hardware (displays, furniture, mounts, basic cabling concepts)
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as IT, engineering, and facilities
- Create structured concepts, layouts, and concise technical documentation
- Support systems engineering activities (e.g. system breakdown, interface definition, requirement structuring)
- Help organize and track technical topics across the setup process
- Contribute to ground systems development tasks, including basic software, scripting, or integration support
Qualification Checklist
- Enrolled in a Bachelor/Master program in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar
- Strong structured and analytical thinking skills
- Interest in practical, hands-on system design
- Basic understanding of technical systems (e.g. IT setups, hardware, interfaces)
- Ability to work across hardware and software topics
- Proactive, independent and comfortable working on open-ended tasks
- Outstanding communication skills
- Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
- Experience with CAD or layout tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion, AutoCAD, Visio)
- Basic programming or scripting skills (e.g. Python or similar)
- Exposure to systems engineering methods or frameworks
- Interest in ergonomics and human-machine interaction
- Experience with lab work, hardware projects, or system integration
