This position is located at our manufacturing and test facility in Briggs, TX north of Austin, TX.
SUMMARY:
Quality Assurance owns the processes and tools by which Firefly identifies, contains, eliminates, and prevents non-conformances. Quality is charged with defining and maintaining the processes and tools which prove product capabilities meet requirements and result in a predictably economical and reliable product.
The 2nd shift Firefly Quality Inspector is responsible for inspection and acceptance of qualification and flight hardware. Verifying that all key performance and design characteristics are met prior to launch, Quality Inspectors play a critical role in ensuring mission success. This position is located at our Production and Test facility north of Cedar Park, in Briggs, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections using Zeiss CMM equipment (e.g., Contura, Prismo, Duramax)
- Execute inspection programs using Calypso CMM software.
- Review engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications to determine inspection requirements
- Set up parts, fixtures, and probes for accurate measurement
- Document inspection results and generate inspection reports
- Identify nonconforming conditions and support root cause investigations
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Design, and Quality teams
- Maintain CMM equipment and ensure calibration status is current
- Support AS9100 quality system requirements and internal audits
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Experience with aerospace inspection documentation and traceability
- Proficiency with basic metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators)
Desired
- Associate degree or higher in quality, engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with standards and/or equivalent quality, military, or government standards in the aerospace industry.
- Ability to write or modify CMM programs with Zeiss Calypso software
- Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined parts
- ASME Y14.5 GDTP certification
- Demonstrated experience with application of aerospace quality standards, such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
