Job Description

Why Firefly Aerospace

Firefly Aerospace is an end-to-end space transportation company enabling the world to launch, land, and operate in space – anywhere, anytime. Our launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles support government and commercial missions from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond.

Join a team building the next generation of space systems.

Firefly Aerospace is seeking talented and motivated engineers to support the design, integration, testing, and operation of our spacecraft, launch vehicles, and advanced space systems.

Join a fast-paced, mission-driven team helping enable the future of space exploration.

Position Summary

Firefly Aerospace is hiring across a variety of engineering roles supporting spacecraft and launch vehicle development at our Briggs, TX facility.

Successful candidates will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, and test to design, integrate, and verify flight hardware. These roles span hands-on spacecraft integration, system design, firmware development, and test architecture supporting both spacecraft and launch vehicle programs.

We are looking for engineers who are curious, technically rigorous, and excited to contribute to the development and launch of real spacecraft and launch systems.

Engineering Hiring Event (Invite-Only)

Firefly Aerospace is hosting an invite-only engineering hiring event on March 27th, 2026 for select candidates interested in joining our spacecraft and launch vehicle programs.

Applicants who apply through this posting will be reviewed by our engineering and recruiting teams. Qualified candidates may be invited to attend an in-person hiring event at our Briggs, TX facility, where they will have the opportunity to:

• Meet directly with Firefly engineers and hiring managers
• Learn more about our spacecraft and launch vehicle programs
• Participate in interviews for open engineering roles

This event is designed to connect candidates with multiple engineering teams and provide insight into Firefly’s spacecraft integration, testing, firmware, and mechanical engineering work.

Due to limited capacity, attendance at the hiring event is by invitation only.

Potential Engineering Roles Include

Mechanical Engineer – Design and develop spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and mechanical subsystems supporting launch, spaceflight, and lunar missions.

Integration Engineers I & II (Spacecraft) – Lead hands-on spacecraft integration in cleanroom environments, developing procedures and work instructions while coordinating subsystem installation and vehicle build-up.

Functional Test Engineers I & II (Spacecraft) – Develop and execute functional and system-level test campaigns, build automated test scripts, and verify spacecraft performance through integration and environmental testing.

Firmware Engineer – Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for spacecraft avionics and hardware interfaces, supporting system integration, testing, and flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may vary by role but typically include:

• Support the design, development, and integration of spacecraft and launch vehicle hardware and subsystems
• Develop and execute functional, integration, and system-level test procedures to verify vehicle performance and mission readiness
• Design and maintain automated test tools and scripts using languages such as Python, C++, or similar
• Support spacecraft integration activities in cleanroom environments, including hardware installation and configuration
• Develop work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation to support assembly, integration, and test operations
• Plan and support environmental testing including vibration, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and other qualification campaigns
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during integration and test activities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define requirements, resolve anomalies, and improve system performance
• Analyze test data and generate reports supporting verification and flight readiness
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and operational workflows

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Experience working with complex hardware systems, software development, or engineering test environments (internships and academic projects considered)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, system schematics, and technical documentation
• Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, C++, or similar
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience in aerospace, spacecraft, launch vehicles, robotics, or other complex electromechanical systems
• Functional or system-level testing of integrated hardware systems
• Environmental testing such as vibration, thermal vacuum (TVAC), or thermal cycling
• Cleanroom integration or spacecraft assembly operations
• Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) test systems or simulation environments
• Embedded systems or firmware development
• Mechanical design or analysis using CAD and engineering analysis tools
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Experience working with telemetry, data acquisition systems, or test automation frameworks
