The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, self-reliant, people friendly, and highly motivated Structural Analysis Engineer, Senior level, to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG). ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane.
This position reports to the ESG Analysis Integration Manager and is located at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish the system design
Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle
Develop test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyze/report test results to validate and that verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
Develop and maintain analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of development and sustainment efforts
Work with multi-discipline teams to support mechanical subsystem and payload integration product definition including layouts, detail parts, and installation datasets
Support trade studies to identify and evaluate multiple potential design and build options.
On-site support for on-vehicle installation and test
Recommend engineering dispositions to hardware non-conformances and anomalies
Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts
Work with team leads to define project plans and provide regular progress updates
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. This worksite participates in Boeing’s 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required), with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience
Proficiency with stress analysis software (ex. Nastran/Patran, Hypermesh, Abaqus, etc)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Strong communication skills to interface with different program and customer teams
Experience providing structural analysis support for part fabrication, on-vehicle installation, and manufacturing nonconformances
