Company:
The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks Design Engineers – Entry Level to serve as Structural and Payload Design Engineers for our team in El Segundo, California.
Position Responsibilities:
Support the development, maintenance, interpretation, and modification of basic structural, payload, or Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) component designs using 3-D CAD tools such as Creo Parametric to help create product definition for engineering, production, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) fundamentals in accordance with ASME Y14.5M standards.
Assist in validating and verifying that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Support supplier development, test, and production activities through coordination with internal teams and suppliers as directed.
Contribute to the development of design and analysis processes, tools, and methods that improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
Stay informed about emerging technologies and assist in evaluating concepts for future product designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret requirements, define interfaces, and support integrated assembly design efforts using design layouts and engineering documentation.
Provide support during fabrication, integration, and test of structural products at supplier and in-house facilities.
Assist in developing equipment and tooling concepts and design solutions for the production system.
Participate in evaluating emerging technologies and concepts for vehicle integration and testing to support project requirements.
Help ensure designs consider safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomics, and regulatory requirements.
Support the development and documentation of vehicle tooling and equipment integration workflows based on design requirements to improve productivity during vehicle integration.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
** This worksite participates in Boeing’s 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.**
This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Ability to Obtain U.S. Top Secret/SCI - Final Post-Start
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
Ability, after starting in the role, to get a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, such as through coursework, academic projects, internships, or hands-on engineering activities.
Exposure to space hardware environments, such as satellites, through academic projects, internships, research, or related work experience.
Exposure to structural engineering, payload engineering, or systems engineering concepts through coursework, projects, internships, or related experience.
Familiarity with composite materials and processes, such as honeycomb sandwich panels, carbon fiber layups, or graphite layups, through academic or internship experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Exposure to antenna structures or antenna systems through coursework, academic projects, internships, or related experience.
Familiarity with composite materials and processes through academic, internship, or project work.
Exposure to RF components through coursework, laboratory work, or related engineering experience.
Exposure to satellite or spacecraft-related systems through academic projects, internships, research, or related experience.
Familiarity with manufacturing methods, fabrication processes, or assembly practices through hands-on academic, internship, or co-op experience.
Exposure to spacecraft platform or bus structures (S/C Bus) through coursework, projects, or internship experience.
Exposure to GSE/tooling concepts through academic projects, internships, or related engineering work.
