At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Blue Origin seeks highly talented technicians to test & launch the New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. We are looking for teammates to help refurbish flown rockets, stack rockets and payloads, maintain and operate launch infrastructure, and ultimately participate in launching one of the largest rockets in the world. Successful candidates will bring relevant skills, experiences and certifications from aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, and related fields. We are looking for people who are fast and eager learners, extremely hard workers, problem solvers, and instinctive team players.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shifts: A | Mon-Fri (7am-4pm), must be able to support some off-shift testing as required
  • Location: Space Coast, FL
  • Relocation: Available
  • Potential travel: Up to 10% for training and related activities (where applicable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing parts, from components up through rocket stages, near Blue Origin’s LC-36 launch complex
  • Fabricate tooling, harnesses, and other equipment as needed
  • Proposing and implementing continuous improvements to all our operations
  • Test facility operation, maintenance, and construction
  • General trouble shooting of instrumentation, valves, leaks, etc
  • Reviewing, editing and following Test Procedures
  • Safe working practices:
    • Safely working with hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems
    • Working understanding of standard operations safety practices
    • Demonstrate a strong bias for safety in operations
  • Planning and communicating assembly steps for complex mechanical installations
  • Providing design feedback on the test stand and test article(s)
  • Flexibility to support testing campaigns as required – this may mean shift work or extended hours based on testing needs
  • Working with engineers on design concepts/improvements and development tests

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:

Test & Launch Operations sit at the heart of Blue Origin’s launch and spaceflight systems, turning design intent into hard data, clean checkouts, and flight confidence. Our Launch Technicians are the hands-on experts who bring vehicles, ground systems, and test stands to life – from first power‑on and subsystem checkout to full‑stack vehicle and pad‑level tests that clear the way for launch day.

You won’t just follow procedures; you’ll execute them with precision and help make them better. You’ll build up and configure hardware, connect and verify avionics and electrical systems, hook up fluid lines and ground support equipment, and run test and checkout sequences that prove systems are ready to fly. Experience with tools and disciplines such as mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and terminations, fluid systems (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic), instrumentation, and basic test equipment (DMMs, scopes, pressure/flow measurement, etc.) will let you quickly contribute on the floor and at the pad.

Safety and mission assurance are our north star, and the stakes are real. You’ll follow and reinforce rigorous safety‑by‑design and test practices – including PPE, lockout/tagout, hazardous energy and fluid procedures – while working on systems that must work the first time, every time. Launch Technicians who thrive here combine strong hands‑on skills with disciplined, procedure‑driven execution and the pride that comes with seeing the hardware they built and checked out roll to the pad, count down, and fly to space.

Launch & Mission Operations Technicians provide hands‑on, frontline support at the sharp end of the mission – where hardware, people, and procedures come together to put vehicles and payloads into space. You will be supporting control room or test operations from the floor, including pre‑test configurations, pad or stand walkdowns, propellant and fluid system readiness, and real‑time support to console operators during countdowns and test runs. You’re on headset with engineers and supervisors, turning their commands into safe, correct actions in the field.

You’re expected to bring solid hands‑on mechanical, electrical, or fluid‑system experience; comfort working around large, complex hardware; and the discipline to execute detailed procedures in a high‑consequence environment. In this role, you’ll be trusted with critical hardware, work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with engineers and supervisors, and play a direct part in the risk and readiness picture for each test and launch. If you’re motivated by tight timelines, real hardware, and the adrenaline of seeing the systems you built and operated counted down and launched, this is where you’ll feel at home.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in mission/flight operations, launch/test operations, aerospace/industrial systems, or a closely related operational environment.
  • 1+ year of frontline leadership (supervisor, lead, crew chief, or equivalent) directing technicians or operators.
  • Experience performing work on complex or hazardous systems (e.g., cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic, high‑pressure, high‑voltage, propellants, or similar).
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, work instructions, drawings, schematics, manuals).
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize daily work for a team while meeting safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
  • Basic proficiency with digital tools (email, spreadsheets, maintenance/operations systems) and ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Willing and able to support non‑standard hours (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime), work in field/industrial environments (outdoors, PPE, heights/ladders, hazardous or restricted areas as required), and travel occasionally to other Blue Origin sites or test/launch locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A&P license, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field
  • Certification in and/or Knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • J-STD soldering certification, 610 PCB Assembly and 7711/7721 Rework
  • Ability to operate complex and precision machinery, including CNCs, 3D printers, harness construction, welding, orbital tube welding, tube bending, flaring, and composites
  • Working knowledge of propellants, hazardous and class division/groups, NEC, and UL 508a
  • Solid understanding of a variety of rocket propellants, including liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid methane, and hypergols
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts
  • Experience working with rocket engines, rocket test facilities, or rocket launch operations
