As part of a hardworking team of Nondestructive Testing Specialists, Technicians, and Engineers, you will perform development and production activities involving Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of assuring part integrity, quality and life span. This position will primarily be involved in the inspection of flight critical metallic, composite flight hardware, Ground Support Equipment and test samples
This role will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. - We offer housing and relocation support. Interns are responsible for daily transportation to and from their work locations.
- Shifts available:
- Merritt Island, Florida: Monday - Thursday (6:00AM – 4:30PM)
- Huntsville, Alabama: Monday - Thursday (5:00AM – 3:30PM)
- Interviews will include a technical assessment
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using NDT techniques
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.
- Documentation and organization of inspection results.
- Interface/communicate with Engineers and/or Managers to describe inspection results.
Minimum Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in a program at a 2-year or 4-year institution.
- Available to work full time while not concurrently enrolled in coursework.
- Must meet the minimum training requirements per NAS-410 for a level 1 inspector in a minimum of two of the following methods: Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, Eddy Current Testing or Infrared Thermography.
- Meet minimum Vision Requirements:
1. Near Vision: Either 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12”
2. Color Perception: 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with a minimum of 12 panels correctly identified. - Ability to lift and transport parts and/or inspection equipment within OSHA requirements.
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity
- Capable in analyzing resultant data from metallic and composite structures
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products is required
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Comfortable working from platforms, scissor lifts and or aerial boom lifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in analyzing resultant data from metallic and composite structures
- Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray.
- Ability to meet the minimum Level 2 training requirements in any of the following methods per NAS-410. Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, Eddy Current Testing or Infrared Thermography.
- Phased Array Ultrasonics Training
- Computed and/or Digital Radiography training.
- Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray.
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace
- Experience with automated/robotic inspection equipment
- 1+ years of aerospace experience

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
