## Job description

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

This role offers the opportunity to own thruster hardware across the entire product lifecycle—from defining requirements and developing designs to manufacturing, testing, qualification, and flight readiness. You'll work alongside talented engineers and cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, drive data-informed engineering decisions, and deliver reliable flight hardware. You'll thrive in this role if you bring strong engineering fundamentals, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to balance analytical work, design, and practical hardware challenges while taking ownership of technical solutions from concept through qualification.

**What you'll do:**

- Design and develop thruster components and systems for a variety of launch vehicles and spacecraft.
- Own hardware development throughout the product lifecycle, from initial requirements and conceptual design through qualification and flight readiness.
- Perform engineering analyses and evaluations to inform design decisions and ensure hardware meets performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
- Partner with manufacturing and test teams to bring designs to life, support hardware assembly and testing, and evaluate test results.
- Review test data, investigate unexpected performance, and drive design improvements based on engineering evidence.
- Evaluate nonconforming hardware, determine root causes, and develop technically sound dispositions and corrective actions.
- Produce clear, rigorous technical documentation, including engineering reports, analyses, and test summaries.
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test organizations to resolve technical challenges and continuously improve our hardware and processes.

**Qualifications:**

- B.S. degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
- 2+ years of proven experience with component design, manufacturing, analysis, assembly, and test
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to perform basic engineering analysis
- Experience with CAD to design parts and assemblies
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-ups
- Experience examining, and providing resolutions for, non-conforming hardware
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization

**Desired:**

- Experience working with rocket or jet engine hardware or with pressurized fluid systems in a design, manufacturing, or test capacity
- Experience designing for manufacturability, implementing designs into manufacturing processes, and transitioning products from concept to production
- Proficiency in the basic principles of compressible and incompressible flow, combustion processes, thermodynamics, mechanics, and aerospace materials and treatments
