This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of fluid systems for rockets! You will engage in all levels of the design cycle including conceptual design, requirements definition, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout and analysis, integration, test and mission support. You will use creative thinking and novel manufacturing solutions to solve complex problems with various fluids systems which include high pressure gas, cryogenic propellant, post combustion product and highly stressed hardware.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, deliver, and test routed fluid systems, combustion devices, and fluid control devices.
  • Identify hardware solutions to meet mission requirements
  • Work with fluid components (i.e. flow meters, instrumentation, valves, pumps etc)
  • Work closely with other groups to ensure your systems work together, resolving issues with calculated risk
  • Following design efforts, you will lead and participate in component and system level testing and data analysis
  • Deliver completed designs using best draft practicing per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards along with clear and well documented analysis reports
  • Travel 25% - 50%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • Strong application of first principles fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and materials
  • 2+ years testing propulsion systems, high pressure gas systems, cryogenic fluids, or equivalent experience from aviation, automotive, or petro-chemical.
  • Solid understanding of fluid test components such as flow meters, instrumentation, pumps and valves
  • Experience troubleshooting fluids hardware
  • Experience with data acquisition systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design and analysis of routed fluid systems, combustion devices, or fluid control devices.
  • Experience with rocket fluids systems
  • Working knowledge of cryogenic material properties and testing
  • Experience with CAD
  • Working Knowledge of FEA and CFD.
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles in the detail design of aerospace or equivalent type fluid systems and components
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
