Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.The New Glenn Avionics team is multidisciplinary covering power, GNC, network and communications, Software, embedded systems, sensors, cabling, testing and integration. This position is for an Avionics Data Acquisition Engineer who will focus on developing, integrating and testing data acquisition systems for our launch vehicles. This position will be as an active participant in a rapid development environment and requires a bias for action while delivering quality results. The decisions made will contribute to Blue Origin's long-term success in human spaceflight. The role requires comfort with ambiguity and an ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Avionics Hardware Data Acquisition Engineer with a passion for spacecraft instrumentation and measurement systems throughout the full product lifecycle from conceptualization through deployment. The ideal candidate should have strong fundamentals in data acquisition system design and sensor integration with an interest in contributing to space systems. Candidates are encouraged to apply if they meet most, but not all, of the qualifications below.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and develop system requirements for data acquisition systems utilized for vehicle health monitoring and performance analysis
Create and review schematics based on system requirements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
Review detailed PCB designs and layouts. Ensure designs meet all required aerospace and industry standards, including signal integrity, thermal considerations, and mechanical constraints.
Conduct benchmarking and performance analysis to guide the design and optimization through LRU NPI process.
Collaborate with embedded software and network OS teams during system integration.
Design robust systems capable of operating in extreme environments that meet environmental testing requirements applicable to SMC-S-016
Collaborate with design teams to integrate DFM and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles early in the lifecycle to reduce labor-intensive manual processes
Evaluate and implement AI-enabled inspection and automation to enhance capacity and reduce production bottlenecks with BIT (Built-In-Test) solutions.

Familiar with excitation PCB schemes (Wheatstone bridges or IEPE constant-current sources)
Experience with mixed-signal isolation design for establish robust isolation strategies to prevent digital noise from FPGAs and processors from corrupting analog sensor data
Understanding of sampling design and potential impacts to system (aliasing, under/over sampling, and resolution)
Familiarity with event correlation and time synchronization schemes
Hands-on experience with hardware validation and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and SMUs.
