POSITION SUMMARY
Axiom Space seeks a resilient, high‑energy Risk Analyst to support complex human spaceflight missions. This role partners with multidisciplinary teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks across mission life cycles. The analyst ensures astronaut safety through quantitative risk assessment and strong systems thinking. Success in this position requires exceptional problem‑solving ability, leadership, and communication skills, along with a deep passion for human spaceflight.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform quantitative and qualitative risk analyses to assess likelihood, impact, and mission relevance.
Translate complex risk findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Develop and maintain mitigation strategies, controls, and contingency plans for identified risks.
Evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation actions using statistical tools, modeling techniques, and trend analysis.
Maintain and update program and project risk registers to ensure accuracy and traceability.
Support risk reviews, readiness assessments, and decision‑making forums throughout the mission lifecycle.
Collaborate with engineering, safety, operations, and business teams to ensure integrated risk management.
Identify emerging risks and recommend proactive strategies to minimize mission and safety impacts.
Ensure risk processes comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Communicate project status, risk posture, and critical issues to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
Apply and support agile project management practices to improve transparency and execution.
Perform additional duties as required to support mission and organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace, Mathematics, or a Science field required; advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in risk analysis, systems engineering, safety engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience navigating and applying NASA safety and risk processes is strongly preferred.
Technical background in human spaceflight risk analysis, with consideration for highly relevant experience in other high‑risk industries.
Proven ability to evaluate complex systems and extract the data required for rigorous risk assessments.
Hands‑on experience with quantitative risk analysis methods, including Fault Tree Analysis, Decision Tree Analysis, Sensitivity Analysis, and Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA).
Proficiency with statistical and electronic risk analysis tools used for modeling and data evaluation.
Demonstrated success operating in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments while driving results.
Strong judgment and proactive problem‑solving skills applied to complex technical challenges.
Excellent organizational abilities with a track record of delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
