Software Engineer Intern - Enterprise Systems (Fall 2026)
Job Description
Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity’s reach into the solar system. Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly-sophisticated customers across the globe— large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts.
Astranis is the preferred satellite communications partner for buyers with stringent requirements for uptime, data security, network visibility, and customization. Astranis has raised over $750 million from some of the world’s best investors, from Andreessen Horowitz to Blackrock and Fidelity, and employs a team of 450 engineers and entrepreneurs. Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.
Software Engineer Intern - Enterprise Systems Fall 2026
Before a satellite can be launched into space, it needs to be designed, procured, assembled, and tested. The Enterprise systems team builds software and analytics tools to enable the end-to-end engineering that is required to take a satellite design into space.
Internships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are hourly roles designed for students who are currently enrolled at a four-year university.
As an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems — we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Past interns on this team have built software that we still rely on today to procure, test, and manufacture our satellites — and many of them are now full-time engineers at Astranis.
Role
- Collaborate with our engineering team to design, build, and test software that Astranis teams rely on every day to design, test, and manufacture the hardware that powers our satellites.
- Test & Production Infrastructure: Help develop and maintain internal applications that support test operations, scheduling, and production tracking across manufacturing
- Hardware Design & Supply Chain Tools: Support internal tools used directly by hardware design and supply chain teams to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Self-Serve Automation & Workflows: Build automated workflows using orchestration tools to reduce manual work across teams
- Data, Analytics & AI Tooling: Contribute to our data warehouse infrastructure, data ingestion pipelines, and BI tooling to power business analytics and AI workflows
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- Experience with Python
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, write, and test software from scratch
- Don't meet them all? Not a problem. Please apply even if you do not meet all these criteria.
