Chemical Engineering | Data Science internship: utility system roadmap
Job Description
Introduction
The Process Technology team at ASML ensures that our manufacturing facilities run on reliable and efficient utility systems. These systems include water, gases, vacuum, and abatement, which together form the technical backbone of our operations. As our production environment grows, these systems must evolve to support future performance and capacity needs. In this internship, you will help create a clear long‑term view of how utility systems should develop. Your work will support strategic decisions that keep our factories ready for the years ahead.
Your assignment
You will analyze a manufacturing facility and build a structured overview of its current utility systems. This includes understanding how the systems are set up, how capacity is distributed, and where key dependencies and constraints exist. You will connect today’s situation to several realistic future scenarios to show how the systems will need to adapt. Your main responsibilities will be:
Map the current setup of utility systems in a clear and structured way.
Identify capacity levels, dependencies, bottlenecks, and constraints.
Develop future scenarios with input from technical experts and system owners.
Translate insights into a practical and visually clear roadmap.
Highlight where system pressure will increase and which actions matter most.
Recommend changes or investments needed over time.
Explore how the approach can scale to other facilities using data, layouts, and digital tools.
This is a master’s (thesis) internship for a minimum of 5 months. It requires an investment of 40 hours per week, out of which 3 days per week are onsite in Veldhoven. The start date is projected at the end of August 2026.
