We help fast-moving customer support and product teams automate business critical work on computer desktops that popular cloud based integrations like Zapier and Integromat cannot reach.

What we do

There are several types of digital automation products of varying popularities and varying difficulties to develop. We're focusing on building among the hardest but most applicable kind, robotic process automation (RPA), and on making it as intuitive as possible for non-technical staff to use. Robotic automations don't stop at integrations between popular apps— they can actually work with a computer's filesystem and simulate using the computer the way a human operator would, using a combination of application selectors and computer vision to identify on-screen buttons to click on and text fields to type in.

The result is a unique automation platform that allows businesses to automate mission critical form filling, scraping, & document/file processing tasks that most integrations tools cannot reach.

Who we are

Prefix is currently a few people backed by some great early investors, founders, and angels. We're based in Palo Alto and do have a preference for folks in the area, but are open to remote hires that prove great fits. As a particularly small team, joining us would mean playing a founding role with a direct and immediate impact to our business.

We seek to be the last automation solution for our customers and place an incredibly heavy priority on user experience. Some of our more fun challenges include:

• Developing useful selector abstractions for desktop & web application UI elements
• Orchestrating automations that run on virtual machine desktops
• Tracing errors in automations to specific, plausible points of failure, and producing errors non-experts can interpret
• Creating resources for new automators to understand and get started using Prefix

Evidenced expertise in front-end development in Vue.js, and building Python API's is required. Involvement with (or at least minimum cursory knowledge of) RPA or processes specific to a vertical is a huge plus.
