Agents can fork real environments, run code, use the terminal, and roll back or branch again in milliseconds. We work across the full stack, from virtualization and storage to SDKs and developer UX, with a strong bias toward correctness, performance, and simple systems.

ix is built for people who want to work on deep systems problems. We write almost everything in Rust on a Linux-first greenfield stack, from the hypervisor and storage engine to the runtime, SDKs, and developer tooling.

We fork running sandboxes in milliseconds, have content-addressed storage with deduplication and caching, persistent terminal sessions, reproducible build environments, and infrastructure that agents can safely use like a normal computer. We maintain major pieces of the stack ourselves, including virtualization, kernel-level work, filesystem and storage layers, and custom tooling when upstream is not good enough
