The AI native law firm for growth stage companies

YC W26

About the Company

General Legal is building the world's first AI-native law firm, replacing the law firm itself by rebuilding it from the ground up for AI era. Where traditional lawyers take 2 weeks and charge you $15,000, we take 1 hour and charge $500. Same quality. Real attorneys. AI-native from day one. We're the team behind Casetext ($650M exit to Thomson Reuters).

Tech Stack

We are working to make our lawyers 10x in the near term, and then even 100x more efficient. This is a hard problem that requires building AI agents that efficiently operate on large bigger-than-context amounts of data, and do so quickly. We don't have time to wait around for agents to code their way to a solution--we have to find ways to respond to queries quickly and learn from interactions with our lawyers.

iOS/Android dev who went to Harvard Law and subsequently represented startups and VCs at Cooley and WilmerHale for 3 years. Back to building: this time, a more efficient law firm.

Javed Qadruddin

Been coding since the age of 9. Went to Harvard Law because I liked law too. Represented startup companies at Fenwick & West for 2 years, but decided I'd rather actually build things. Switched back to engineering in 2013. Got really into deep learning in 2014. Been at the intersection of law and AI ever since at Casetext (YC13, exited to Thomson Reuters in '23), and at Meta.
