Software Intern, AI/ML — Warehouse Robotics, Stretch Team

Are you a rising junior, rising senior, or graduate student in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field, motivated and excited to create industry-transforming robotic systems for warehouse logistics?

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. We are now a recognized leader in automation solutions for warehouse logistics.

The Team

Our team builds the software that powers Stretch, Boston Dynamics' robot for warehouse automation. In this role you will be paired with a senior developer who will mentor you as you collaborate on different projects.

Your main role will be as a software developer building and improving the AI and machine learning systems that support warehouse robotic operations. Depending on your skills, there are opportunities to contribute in many areas, such as:

• Machine learning and computer vision for perception and decision-making

• Training, fine-tuning, and evaluating models for robotic applications

• ML infrastructure including data pipelines, experiment tracking, and model deployment

• Simulation and testing environments for validating ML-driven behavior

Day-to-Day Activities

• Design, write, analyze, and debug code

• Work within a team to gather, refine, and document requirements

• Communicate designs and progress with the larger team

• Hands-on interaction with robotic hardware in active warehouse settings

Desired Skills

• Strong CS fundamentals for rising juniors, rising seniors, or graduate students (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field 

• Strong ML or Data Analysis fundamentals (PyTorch, JAX)

• Proficiency in Python

• Experience with modern ML or AI techniques (e.g., Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Optimization, or similar areas); experience with VLAs or VLMs is a plus

• Prior internship or project experience in robotics or warehouse/logistics environments is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

The hourly pay range for this position is between $30-$45/ hour. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills, education and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
