
Associate Director, Technical Operations - MFG Test
Job Description
As the Associate Director, Technical Operations - MFG Test, you will define and execute the strategic roadmap for providing world-class manufacturing test solutions for the production of robotics systems, sub-systems and assemblies. Every day you will interact with the engineering, operations, supply chain and quality engineering teams to ensure the appropriate test coverage, test development, and product performance of our robotics systems, while managing a growing team of test engineers and technicians developing, running and improving these ongoing tests in support of production goals. To thrive in this role, you must be able to set the strategic direction of the team while also functioning as an individual contributor throughout the design and creation of test equipment, and you must be capable of understanding complex electromechanical systems and assemblies at a deep systems engineering level.

Day to day activities:
Define and execute the strategic vision for all factory testing—including internal production, CM/ODM supplier test systems, and service/repair test platforms.
Lead a team of manufacturing test engineers to develop test solutions for all factory testing- internal production, CMs, ODMs, service and repairs.
Collaborate with R&D during new product development to ensure new product is designed for manufacturing testability
Collaborate with the management of product software and controls groups to develop proper software testing strategies for electromechanical assemblies and complete robotic systems
Ensure product line test specification is created, test points identified, test jigs/fixtures designed/procured/assembled and validated on the production line, and each activity leading to qualified tests on the line are done at the right time during product development.

Partner with the supply chain management team to identify flow-down requirements of testing to our supply chain partners
Work directly with our supply chain partners to develop, implement, troubleshoot, and fix test equipment at the supplier site
Coordinate with both software and quality teams to create and maintain the data backhaul of tests used for quality control
Create and maintain test systems documentation
Install, bring-up and validate new tests prior to release to production, including changes.
Optimize test based on quality data and test gaps
Desired skills:
Experience leading and growing technical teams
Involvement in making system level trade-offs when working with other disciplines to define the parameters of a successful test, keeping both cost and quality in mind
Exceptional collaborator up/down and horizontally with sister organizations, e.g. R&D or manufacturing engineering and quality
Previous experience working with R&D and manufacturing team members to create test plans for complex electromechanical assemblies on assembly lines, and with suppliers (both ODM and CM).
Proven experience in strategic development and deployment of manufacturing test frameworks (HW & SW) across the global supply chain with emphasis in the APAC region.
Familiarity with test sequence development using tools such as TestStand, LabVIEW and Python.
Ability to travel up to 20% to support supplier engagement and factory implementation.
15+ years previous test experience in manufacturing, primarily in a management role.
BS in an engineering discipline minimum.

The base pay range for this position is between $177,207.00 to $221,509.00 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range represents a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
