About the Team:
Relativity Space pioneered large-scale additive manufacturing with our Terran 1 rocket, the largest 3D-printed object to fly. Now a distinct business unit within Relativity, Horizon Manufacturing Technologies is advancing next-generation manufacturing for aerospace and beyond. The team operates at the frontier of manufacturing innovation, where creativity meets capability. This is an environment where cutting-edge R&D is put into production, industrializing advanced manufacturing capabilities to solve customer problems. Youâll work alongside welders, robotics engineers, data scientists, and systems engineers at the intersection of hardware and software, creating an end-to-end additive manufacturing platform that serves a wide variety of applications. From exploring new materials to unlocking faster print speeds, to designing complex, organic geometries that canât be built any other way, itâs high-impact work that sets the foundation for the future of advanced manufacturing
About the Role:
- Collaborate closely with technology and operations teams to define requirements for industrial automation systems and translate them into functional designs
- Responsible engineer for the design and development of mechanical systems from conception to production
- Create models, drawings and specifications
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to derive requirements, set goals and ensure effective communication
- Ensure designs meet requirements for tolerances, functionality and safety
- Utilize rapid prototyping to iterate and refine designs quickly
About You:
- Bachelorâs degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 2â4 years of experience designing industrial automation equipment, mechanical structures, or mechanisms
- Proficiency in CAD, including GD&T application, tolerance analysis and drawing documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Nice to haves but not required:
- Proficiency in NX CAD software and experience with PLM systems
- Experience with robotics and electrical system design
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods and technologies
- Hands-on experience performing structural FEA analysis using ANSYS, ABAQUS, or similar tools
