People Development Operations Specialist
Job Description
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.
Waymo's People team recruits and supports the world's best talent (including, we hope, you). Our HR business partners, program administrators, staffers, and compensation specialists help our employees attain their full potential in a healthy, considerate and supportive environment. We take our role as stewards of Waymo's culture seriously.
In this hybrid role, you will report into our Culture & People Development Programs Lead.
You will:
- Program Operations & Contract Management
- End-to-End Event Logistics: Create and execute learning events and internal requests seamlessly, managing the critical logistical details from scheduling, communications, and speaker coordination to space booking and material preparation.
- LMS Administration: Own the day-to-day operations of our Learning Management System (LMS)—handling course configurations, audience tagging, troubleshooting user issues, and maintaining impeccable data hygiene.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Act as the operational point of contact for external learning vendors; manage contracts, track statements of work (SOWs), and navigate internal procurement and billing workflows.
- Process Optimization: Spot patterns in operational bottlenecks, proactively resolving logistical issues and creating streamlined playbooks to scale our existing programs.
- Program Delivery & Impact Tracking
- Core Content Facilitation: Confidently deliver and facilitate existing, pre-designed core program content (such as New Hire Orientation). You ensure a high-energy, welcoming environment.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with external teams, internal clients, and stakeholders to coordinate session calendars, select participants/presenters, and ensure optimal delivery.
- Metrics & Impact Tracking: Manage program feedback loops; pull evaluation data from surveys and the LMS to measure, analyze, and build reports on program efficacy for senior leadership.
- Project Leadership & Growth
- Own Your Sub-Workstreams: Deliver operational project work with limited assistance, independently managing sub-working groups to keep program launches on schedule.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Plan and prioritize operations tasks to align with team goals; propose solutions to tracking gaps and anticipate upcoming logistical challenges.
- Continuous Learning: Proactively master the inner workings and operational efficiencies of the Culture and People Development team.
You have:
-
5+ years of experience within an HR, People Operations, or L&D function, supported by a baseline understanding of adult learning theory to ensure effective program delivery.
-
Hands-on experience owning a Learning Management System (LMS)—handling course configurations, enrollment and survey data reports.
-
Dual Front-and-Back of Room Capability:
-
Front of Room: Confidently delivering and facilitating pre-designed core content (such as New Hire Orientation) and engaging audiences without the burden of content creation.
-
Back of Room: Managing live-stream tech, session timing, and tracking program feedback loops.
-
-
End-to-End Logistics & Process Optimization: Proven ability to manage complex event logistics (scheduling, space booking, speaker coordination), spot operational bottlenecks, and build repeatable playbooks to scale programs.
-
Vendor & Contract Management: Experience serving as the primary contact for external vendors, tracking statements of work (SOWs), and navigating internal procurement and billing systems.
-
Independent Project Execution: A self-driven approach to owning sub-workstreams, managing working groups, navigating ambiguous timelines, and obsessing over the details to ensure flawless execution.
-
Operational-First Mindset: A proactive, collaborative teammate who prioritizes data hygiene, embraces the ""no job is too small"" philosophy, and is focused on execution rather than instructional design.
