Job Description
About us
TrueBiz tells financial institutions whether a business is real. We do it across 250+ signals in under 30 seconds, and we do it for some of the largest and most sophisticated companies in payments and financial services.
We have built that traction with a remarkably small team. Our ambition is to make TrueBiz the default risk signal for every important business interaction.
Why this role, right now
TrueBiz has built a product trusted by some of the largest companies in payments, reached meaningful scale with a remarkably small team, and is now defining a new category in merchant risk intelligence. What's missing is the marketing engine that turns that traction into a market position.
- Define the category, not just the company. Merchant risk intelligence is still emerging as a distinct market. The person in this role shapes the language and narrative the industry adopts — not just how buyers think about TrueBiz, but how they think about the problem.
- The raw material is already here. Happy enterprise customers with measurable outcomes, differentiated products, strategic partnerships with key companies in this space, and a growing body of proprietary data on how businesses behave online. You're not starting from scratch — you're turning real substance into market position.
- You'd have disproportionate influence. Direct line to the CEO, no layers between judgment and action. Your read on the market shapes how we show up in it.
The role
Your role is to make TrueBiz easier to understand, easier to buy, and more likely to win and expand enterprise relationships.
This is a senior, hands-on role. You will be responsible for both deciding what marketing should do and producing the work that makes it happen.
Set the direction.
Develop TrueBiz’s positioning, identify the stories and proof points that will matter to our buyers, and decide which audiences, accounts, and market conversations deserve attention. Build repeatable systems for customer proof, content, and distribution rather than relying on disconnected campaigns.
Do the work.
Turn that direction into high-quality output yourself. Write the copy, interview customers, produce case studies, build campaigns, develop sales materials, run webinars, and keep our market and competitive messaging current.
You will have access to specialist support for areas such as design, but this is not a role built around managing agencies or delegating the core work. The person who succeeds here will be equally comfortable forming the strategy and creating the first version.
What you'll own
Positioning and narrative strategy
- Own how TrueBiz is positioned across products, buyers, use cases, and competitive alternatives
- Turn customer conversations, market developments, and competitive intelligence into clear commercial narratives
- Keep our core sales materials current and build the tools prospects need to make the internal case for TrueBiz
- Work closely with sales to understand where deals are getting stuck and improve the messaging, proof, and materials used to move them forward
Content and customer proof
- Turn product developments, customer results, and market insight into credible, substantive content
- Run the customer case study process from interview and data validation through writing, approval, and distribution
- Create sales materials, articles, webinars, product updates, competitive content, and executive-ready assets
- Write for TrueBiz and the founder across the website, LinkedIn, email, and other relevant channels
Distribution and pipeline activation
- Build focused programs that reach priority accounts and relevant buyers across payments and financial services
- Use email, LinkedIn, events, webinars, partnerships, and targeted campaigns to create and progress enterprise opportunities
- Build repeatable programs around events, including account selection, outreach, meetings, content, and follow-up
- Work with sales and Customer Success to support active deals, customer expansion, launches, and strategic announcements
Requirements
- A track record of operating with real autonomy, ideally reporting to a founder or executive
- Experience in B2B marketing, ideally in fintech, regtech, payments, or another environment selling to a senior, specialist buyer
- A genuine preference for doing the work yourself over delegating it, even at this level of experience
- Experience marketing to a defined set of accounts rather than a broad market — you think in terms of accounts reached and pipeline influenced, not leads generated
- Strong writing, with a portfolio you can show
- Practical experience using AI tools to speed up research, drafting, and workflow design
- Experience with HubSpot
Nice to have
- Experience running email and social programs, not just briefing them
- Experience producing a webinar or similar program end to end
- Experience with a marketing automation platform, enough to define clear requirements for lead scoring and lifecycle stages, even without owning the technical build
- Experience producing customer case studies from live interviews, verified against source material
What good looks like
- You work independently and flag what's worth doing, what isn't, and why — before being asked
- Sales consistently uses the materials you produce, without being told to
- Target accounts are engaging with TrueBiz content and entering pipeline
- The TrueBiz narrative starts showing up in industry conversations we didn't initiate
- Case studies and proof points are actively helping close deals
- Over time, marketing becomes a measurable contributor to pipeline and revenue — but we measure you first on the leading indicators you control
This role may not be right for you if
- You want to inherit a large team, mature budget, or established playbook
- You prefer managing agencies to writing, researching, and producing the first version yourself
- Your background is primarily in high-volume lead generation
- You measure marketing mainly through traffic, impressions, content volume, or raw lead counts
- You are uncomfortable working directly with sales or joining customer and prospect conversations
Getting started
In the first 90 days, we'd expect you to refresh the core positioning narrative and sales deck, build a basic set of sales materials around our strongest use cases, establish the founder's LinkedIn cadence, build the content calendar and quarterly plan that sequences everything else, and deliver a recommendation on event strategy for the next two quarters.
You'll have freelance or contractor support for specialist production like design, so your time goes toward writing and strategy only you can do. Nobody expects every workstream to run at full intensity from day one — part of the job is telling us what's worth doing this quarter and what can wait, and being trusted to make that call.
