Job Description
The Role
We're looking for a Delivery Manager to lead cross-functional engineering teams delivering custom software for our clients.
This is a hands-on, embedded role focused on making delivery happen: running agile teams day to day, keeping work flowing, removing blockers, and making sure what we build lands on time, at quality, and with the client alongside us the whole way. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, and clients, not from a distance, but in the middle of the team, owning the path from plan to production.
The focus is on practical software delivery: shaping how a team works, managing scope, risk, and dependencies, holding the standard, and being the trusted point of contact who keeps clients confident and engineers unblocked. Software development is a team sport here, and this role is about creating the conditions for a team to do its best work.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the delivery of software projects for clients, owning the path from plan to production
Run and adapt agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban, or a sensible blend) and facilitate the ceremonies that keep a team in rhythm
Maintain delivery momentum, keep cadence, surface blockers early, and drive them to closure, including ones outside the team's direct control
Build and protect the health of cross-functional teams, creating an environment where engineers can do their best work
Act as the primary delivery contact for clients, building trusted relationships and managing expectations honestly
Translate between technical and non-technical audiences, so clients understand trade-offs and engineers understand intent
Manage scope, plan, capacity, and dependencies across one or more engagements
Own delivery governance, run a live RAID picture, report clearly on progress and confidence, and raise risks and issues assertively
Hold the quality bar alongside the team and keep delivery reliable under pressure
Keep an eye on cost versus value, working within budget and flagging commercial implications early
Drive continuous improvement in how the team and the wider practice deliver
What We're Looking For
Around 3+ years delivering software or technology projects in agile environments, with a track record of getting work over the line on time and at quality
Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional engineering teams, including coaching or line-management responsibility
Strong grounding in agile and lean practices, and the judgement to adapt the method to the team and the context rather than applying it by rote
Enough technical literacy to engage credibly with engineers on design, architecture, and delivery risk
Excellent client-facing and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to have honest conversations and hold the line
Solid command of delivery governance, planning, RAID, dependency management, and clear reporting
Commercial awareness: an understanding of cost, value, and the dynamics of delivering for a client
Comfortable with delivery tooling such as Jira and Confluence
Nice to Have
An agile or project-management certification (Scrum Master, SAFe, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, or similar)
Experience in a consultancy or client-facing environment delivering bespoke software
Experience with distributed or multi-supplier teams
Cloud and DevOps awareness (AWS, Azure, or GCP, and CI/CD practices)
Domain exposure relevant to our clients
Familiarity with modern, AI-assisted delivery tooling and ways of working
