Overview

Instacart’s IT organization builds and operates the technologies every employee relies on to do their best work. As Senior Manager, IT Corporate Engineering, you will lead the team that powers identity and access, collaboration, devices, and the SaaS platforms that keep Instacart running smoothly at scale.

Reporting to the Head of IT and managing a team of 9, you will own platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Jamf, and Intune. You will chart the technical direction, drive a shift from manual operations to automation and AI-assisted tooling, and partner closely with IT Support and Enterprise Security. Your work will accelerate onboarding, strengthen security controls, and reduce friction across thousands of employees as we continue to grow and expand geographically.

About the Job

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Corporate Engineering team of 9 engineers and administrators responsible for identity, collaboration, endpoint, and core SaaS platforms.
  • Own the strategy, architecture, and reliability for Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Jamf, and Intune; define and meet clear SLOs across availability, security, and user experience.
  • Drive a transformation from manual operations to automation and AI-assisted tooling, enabling zero-touch provisioning, self-service, and standardized integrations across macOS and Windows.
  • Partner with Enterprise Security to implement scalable IAM and zero trust controls (SSO, MFA, lifecycle/SCIM) that are audit-ready and frictionless for employees.
  • Establish operational excellence for incident, change, and problem management; build dashboards and metrics that surface platform health, adoption, and cost optimization.
  • Own vendor and budget management for corporate platforms, including licensing strategy, renewals, and negotiations to maximize value and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT Support, People Ops, Legal, Finance, and business leaders to streamline onboarding/offboarding, role-based access, and lifecycle management as Instacart scales into new geographies.
  • Hire, develop, and retain diverse talent while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Corporate Engineering, IT Infrastructure, or End-User Computing, including ownership of enterprise SaaS and endpoint platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience managing Corporate Engineering/IT platform teams of 5+ employees, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Hands-on administration expertise with multiple core platforms: Okta (SSO, MFA, lifecycle/SCIM), Google Workspace, Slack, and Jira.
  • Experience managing macOS and Windows fleets using Jamf and Microsoft Intune, including configuration, compliance, and zero-touch provisioning.
  • Proficiency in automation and integration: Python and/or PowerShell scripting, REST APIs/webhooks, and configuration-as-code (e.g., Terraform or similar).
  • Proven success implementing identity lifecycle, role-based access controls, and automation to reduce manual work and improve reliability at scale.
  • Experience establishing and meeting SLOs/SLAs, running incident/change management processes, and building operational dashboards for availability, security, and cost.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership partnering with Security, IT Support, and Compliance to maintain strong controls and great end-user experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading large-scale change programs that modernize corporate IT through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Background supporting geographic expansion (for example, growth from the US into EMEA), including data residency, compliance, and support considerations.
  • Vendor and budget ownership for enterprise SaaS portfolios, including license optimization and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and SOX, and the related corporate IT controls.
  • Experience with ITIL practices and service management platforms (e.g., Jira Service Management or ServiceNow) to scale support and governance.
  • Data fluency building metrics with SQL or business intelligence tools to guide decisions on reliability, adoption, and cost.
