You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems. ### **Job Overview** As a Senior Compliance Test Engineer you are responsible for identifying all regulatory and technical hurdles Heron’s products must clear on the path to market. Then, in collaboration with the design engineering team, will demonstrate Heron's products meet or exceed all requirements, achieve all certifications, and successfully enter target markets. ### **How You Will Contribute** - _Interpret UL, IEC, ISO, and other regulatory requirements and translate them into test plans, test procedures, and pass/fail criteria that support Heron’s certification for each product and new market entry._ - _Plan and run safety, performance, and environmental compliance testing, including dielectric withstand, partial discharge, impulse, insulation resistance, temperature rise, abnormal/fault, and grid-interconnection tests._ - _Run pre-compliance testing in-house to find design issues early and lower the risk of formal certification._ - _Coordinate and support witness testing, TPTDP, and CTDP programs with NRTLs and third-party labs, acting as Heron’s technical point of contact during test campaigns._ - _Write clear, traceable test reports, data packages, and certification evidence that meet NRTL and ISO/IEC 17025 expectations._ - _Design, build, and validate test setups, fixtures, and automation for MV and HV power electronics._ - _Find and analyze test failures with design engineering, and drive root cause analysis and corrective action._ ### **What You Will Bring** We have a short list of must-have requirements. We prioritize candidates with a strong grip on first principles, hands-on skills, and initiative. **Must-Have Requirements** - _Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent_ - _5+ years' experience in regulatory and compliance certification for solar, wind, battery or other power electronics products_ - _Working knowledge of standards such as UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC 62477-1, UL 347, or similar._ - _Experience with HV test equipment (hipot, PD systems, impulse generators), power analyzers, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems._ - _Experience working with NRTLs (UL, CSA, TÜV, Intertek, etc.) on certification projects._ - _Strong technical writing and documentation skills._ - _Ability to thrive in ambiguity, relying on your first principles engineering experience to identify creative solutions to hard problems._ - _Capability to remain engaged, proactive, and positive under pressure, owning assignments and taking full accountability_ - _Effective communicator and negotiator with excellent attention to detail._ - _Hands on experience designing and operating test equipment and data acquisition systems, such as oscilloscopes, power and spectrum analyzers, data loggers, etc._ **Nice-to-Haves** - _Experience designing or testing medium-voltage systems (e.g., 5kV–35kV), including insulation coordination, clearance/creepage, and partial discharge considerations._ - _Experience with manufacturing processes and material selection for high-power assemblies (e.g., busbars, potting, conformal coating, HV connectors)._ - _Experience developing DFMEA, PFMEA and HARA for complex hardware design and manufacturing environment_ - _Experience participating in product-relevant standards committees_ - _Hands-on experience with test automation using Python, LabVIEW, or embedded scripting for power hardware validation._ If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
