Job Description
About Finosu
Finosu is an AI-native loan servicer. What does that mean? Well, a servicer handles the communications and payment rails for lenders, think of it as customer support for lenders.
Where does the AI-native piece come in?
Usually, all that communication is staffed by thousands of humans in remote place like the Philippines, India and other English-speaking countries where people are doing arbitrage on cheap English speakers (one co-founder grew up near a couple). Now let’s remove all the humans doing that. Not just from the front-office, but the back office as well. At Finosu, we believe superior customer support comes from removing humans when there is no more bottlenecks on business hours, and everything is compliant default.
Things to Know
We are a start-up and our processes are in flux. Priorities might shift more abruptly than at a more establish company.
- We’re in office, we have found that collaboration especially in a context-rich field is important
- If you HAVE to be remote to start, we can work on a plan
- You will own and be intimate with a high number of things. This will allow you to go deep and truly be the point person for parts of the company. While painful, growth will come from it.
About the Role
This is a classic product engineer role. You’ll spend 80% of your time working with the co-founders and customer to build product. The last 20% will be spent scaling and going nitty-gritty with infra and making sure that things don’t break as we keep onboarding customers.
Tasks
- Design our AI agents across telephony, SMS, email and direct mail to make sure that compliant communication is happening with our borrowers.
- Optimize our borrower portal to help borrowers make sense of their financial data.
- Figure out how to map business processes to automation.
Projects people in this role have taken:
- Designing an AI voice bot to handle 50 questions during a call and structure it afterwards as we send it to our clients
- Ingest a borrower’s response history and log-in behavior to determine AI responses
- Dynamically generate offers to borrowers based on borrower events
- Designing events to track borrower behavior on our portal to optimize the experience
About You
- While we do have a roadmap, we expect you to contribute and push back if you feel there are more important projects to work you. We love tension and conflict if it creates a better product
- An ability to learn fast, we don’t care about experience as much as slope. The world is changing underneath us, 2 years ago it would be weird if an engineer locked himself in a room and talked to the computer to make software, but here we are…
- Product minded, do you think the product manager discipline is outdated and engineers should be leading these decisions? While we refuse to comment on things that might get us in trouble in the future, we love engineers who want to make product decisions. In this role, you will be the product manager of the projects you own
Interview Process
Process
Our process is very light.
- An interview with every technical member of the team
- A deep dive into a project you’ve done in the past
- Interview with the CEO
