POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Facilities Technician, our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Facilities Technician who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Facilities team with expanding and outfitting all our facilities to meet Axiom’s expanding business needs. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about thoughtful building systems and excels at problem solving. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibilities will include ensuring all projects are completed efficiently, and safely

  • Maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment

  • Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs

  • Communication with management

  • Oversight & Install/repair: HVAC systems, cabinets, partitions, shelves, drop ceilings, floors, doors, locks, faucets, water heaters, lighting, and related items

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

  • Operating and Maintaining Shop Equipment

  • Operating heavy machinery, such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and manlifts is a plus

  • Visit job sites daily to document and ensure the quality, safety, and progress of the work

  • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership

  • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle

  • Perform additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • High school Diploma/GED or trade school equivalent

  • 5+ years of facilities experience

  • HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing experience preferred

  • Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges

  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results

  • Proven experience in a hands on/mechanical background

  • Basic understanding of technical aspects of HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical issues

  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, structural, plumbing, and electrical issues

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding organizational abilities

  • Must be able to work independently, take ownership and responsibility for all work done with attention to detail

  • Must be familiar with a wide variety of hand/power tools and be able to adapt to the use of new tools

  • Experience with gas piping systems for aerospace services, including nitrogen, helium, oxygen, and compressed air preferred

  • Must be available to work demanding schedules including overtime, weekends, and on-call duty

  • Ability to work in a fast pace, dynamic environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlines

  • Attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.


Requirements 

  • This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones


Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)

  • Equipment and Machines

  • Standard office equipment (PC, phone, printer, etc.)
