## Job description

**Introduction**

ASML US brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines and metrology that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

We are currently recruiting for an internship located at our office in San Jose, CA

**Roles and Responsibilities**

As a Computational Imaging and Metrology Engineering Intern, you will support product engineering activities focused on simulation, performance analysis, and technology development. You will use scientific and engineering principles to evaluate complex systems and contribute to data-driven engineering decisions.

- Simulate imaging and metrology performance across a variety of tool configurations and operating conditions.
- Design and execute studies to evaluate system performance, investigate technical challenges, and support product improvements.
- Analyze simulation results and engineering data to identify trends, root causes, and optimization opportunities.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytical methods to measure system effectiveness.
- Support investigations related to customer-reported technical challenges and performance questions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and validate new product capabilities.
- Document technical findings and communicate recommendations through reports, presentations, and engineering reviews.

**Education and Experience**

- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience through coursework, research, academic projects, or internships involving optics, imaging, metrology, semiconductor technology, or computational modeling.
- Familiarity with simulation techniques, scientific computing, or data analysis methodologies.
- Experience using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C, or C++ is preferred.
- Exposure to algorithm development, statistical analysis, or engineering optimization methods is beneficial.

**Skills**

·       Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.

·       Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

·       May require travel (specify domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs.

·       Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
