We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to own and shape the entire design experience at Alinea, from the pixels users touch every day to the systems and strategies that make future products possible.

This is not a "just ship screens" role. You'll be the design voice of the company, working directly with the founders to define what Alinea looks, feels, and behaves like — across new financial products, AI features, and surfaces we haven't built yet. And you'll do it as both a hands-on designer and a builder of design culture.

What you'll do

Own the end-to-end product design experience  from early-stage concepts through polished, shipped product used by hundreds of thousands of people.

Partner directly with the founders on product strategy, connecting user insight to business decisions before a single frame is drawn.

Build and steward a design system that lets engineers move fast without sacrificing quality - coherent, scalable, and alive.

Lead design for new financial products (including retirement accounts, crypto features, and AI-powered experiences) from 0 → 1.

Conduct and synthesize user research that sharpens the team's instincts — turning real behavior into product decisions, not just reports.

Raise the visual and interaction bar across the app: motion, hierarchy, delight, and the craft details that turn good into great.

Hire and grow a small design team as the company scales — setting standards, giving feedback, and making the people around you better.

What we're looking for

5+ years designing consumer products, with a portfolio that shows range — strategy, systems, and pixel-level craft.

Proven ability to own 0→1 products and take them to market, not just refine what already exists.

Strong visual and interaction design sensibility — you have a point of view and the skills to execute it.

Experience building or contributing to design systems that teams actually use.

A sharp researcher and listener — you form hypotheses, test them fast, and let user behavior change your mind.

Comfortable working directly with engineers in Figma, and fluent enough in how products are built to know what's easy, what's hard, and when to push.

High ownership mindset — you don't wait to be handed a brief, you define the problem.

Strong signals

You've designed for a high-growth consumer app — fintech, marketplace, or social — and you can show the before/after.

You've operated as the sole or lead designer at a startup and know what it means to build design culture from scratch.

You care about craft and you care more about impact — you know when "good enough" ships and when the detail actually matters.

You think about brand and product design as one thing, not two separate tracks.
