The Infrastructure & Facilities Department (IFAD) is the source of expertise in facilities and operations engineering to our corporate customers. IFAD provides an array of technical capabilities that support our customers in assuring the availability, readiness and success of ground assets/services required to meet the needs of the national security and commercial space enterprises. 

We have a current need for motivated civil/structural engineer to join our high-performing team in solving some of today’s most difficult Facilities and Infrastructure problems and help evolve our capabilities in meeting the technical challenges of tomorrow. This position requires an innovative, decisive leader who excels in highly collaborative, team-based environments and demonstrates the ability to set clear goals and execute effectively. We are seeking experienced candidates with the ability to work within and lead multi-disciplinary project teams proficient in all phases of facility-related project design and controls throughout the facility life cycle, including the requirements/concept design development, construction, commissioning, and operations & maintenance/sustainment phases. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES [What You’ll Be Doing] 

We expect candidate to: 

 

Leadership & Collaboration  

  • Serve as integration leader and/or coordinator for technical teams on multi-phase, multi-disciplinary projects  

  • Act as spokesperson to management, customers, and stakeholders  

  • Mentor and coach early-career engineers  

  • Participate in business development and technical planning efforts 

Technical Execution  

  • Work autonomously with minimal management direction, maintaining full responsibility for project engineering and administrative duties  

  • Lead and participate in technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and contractors  

  • Independently execute detailed analysis, design, and assessment of complex civil/structural facilities and foundation systems  

  • Develop and implement advanced analytical techniques to evaluate and optimize system performance 

Deliverables & Documentation  

  • Originate and validate complex engineering deliverables including calculations, specifications, material requisitions, cost estimates, and design criteria  

  • Deliver data-driven technical reports and recommendations through clear verbal and written communication  

  • Review and provide engineering comments on third-party technical documents  

  • Interpret geotechnical reports and apply findings to optimize foundation and soil support systems 

Construction Support  

  • Assist with constructability reviews  

  • Apply rigorous problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes of system failures and construction issues  

  • Disposition field change requests and nonconformance reports  

  • Conduct construction observations, review submittals, and witness/evaluate field testing as required 

Additional Requirements  

  • Travel to customer and/or government facilities while representing the company and department in a professional manner, including in and outside the continental United States. 

  • Obtain required clearances 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED [MTS Level-3/ Senior Project Leader]: [What You Need to be Successful] 

 

Education, Experience, Licensure, & Clearances 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university  

  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license  

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance 

  • Minimum 12 years in civil/structural engineering design and construction for building, transportation, and infrastructure projects  

  • Proven project management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams  

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers Technical Expertise  

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables (construction documents, material requisitions) and construction methods for industrial infrastructure and foundation systems  

  • Working knowledge of current commercial building codes and regulations (IBC, NFPA, AASHTO, ASTM, AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc.)  

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or analogous computer-aided drafting programs  

  • Proficiency with civil/structural analytical software (SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, PCASE, BLAST, etc.) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, Visio) 

  • Project cost estimation experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities  

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Education & Clearances  

  • Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or related advanced engineering discipline  

  • Current TS/SCI  

  • Current Q clearance 

Specialized Experience  

  • Working knowledge of US defense industry facility acquisition and operations practices  

  • Familiarity with US Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)  

  • Experience with federal, military, and/or space launch base facilities design, construction, operations, and maintenance 

  • Experience with special weapons facilities, munitions production, storage, and handling facilities 

  • Experience in geotechnical and structural design for Nuclear Quality and Safety environments 

Technical Capabilities 

  • Civil/structural design and construction experience with complex, large-scale facilities and heavy construction  

  • Preparation of structural/forensic engineering investigations, studies, and reports  

  • Conducting Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews, Safety Reviews, and O&M Reviews
