Job Description
Senior Android ISP Engineer
Deepnight is creating the best low light camera in the world by embedding an AI model into it. Our model processes the camera’s extremely limited signal with an edge AI chip, and can handle light levels as dark as overcast moonless starlight (0.1 millilux), which is as dark as it can possibly be while on the exposed surface of the earth. The camera is one cubic inch, and we have optimized our model for mobile constraints - working at 90 FPS and consuming only 1 watt. We are making all robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, and head-mounted displays able to perform in total darkness.
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior level Android ISP Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing software for embedded systems, with a strong focus on Android hardware abstraction layers and setting up complicated pipelines between ISP, GPU and DSPs.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) modules.
- Configure ISP pipelines to match our unique project needs.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, test, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex embedded system issues across hardware and software.
- Contribute to software architecture design and code reviews.
- Document designs, implementations, and testing procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Qualcomm CAMX development and platforms.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++.
- In-depth knowledge of ISP pipelines and configurations for metadata and image formats
- Solid experience with Android HAL implementations.
- Demonstrated experience in enabling and integrating new camera sensors.
Location
San Diego (remote) or San Francisco (hybrid) preferred.
