By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
Anduril Industries is a defence technology company with a mission to transform Australian, U.S., and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defence industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built, and sold. As Anduril scales across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific, protecting our people, facilities, and classified work underpins everything we deliver to our customers.
About the Team
Anduril's Australian security team protects a fast-growing footprint: offices and test sites, hundreds of staff, and programs delivered under Australian Government requirements. The team runs both corporate security (people, facilities, access, day-to-day operations) and industrial security (the Defence-regulated protection of classified information and assets). This is a growing function, and we need a hands-on leader to own how our sites are guarded and secured day to day.
About the Job
Our Australian sites deliver classified work under Australian Government requirements. Anduril is looking for a Regional Physical Security Lead to protect the people, facilities, and information behind it. Based in Sydney, you will run guarding and day-to-day physical security operations across our Australian sites, lead our in-house and contracted guard force, and set the standard for how our sites are kept secure.
This is a seasoned individual-contributor role and a hands-on one. You will run operations largely on your own judgement, make the right call in both routine and unpredictable situations, and hold the trust of senior colleagues and government counterparts alike. You will work alongside the Security Officer and the industrial security team, and help make security part of how each site works day to day, so that every employee shares in it and not just the security team. It suits someone who has led a guard force, knows Australian protective security from the ground up, and wants to help build a security function as it grows.
What You'll Do
- Guard Force Leadership. Lead and supervise the in-house and contracted guard force across Anduril's Australian sites — rosters, post orders, coverage, training verification, performance, and conduct. Manage the contracted guarding provider against its service-level agreements and KPIs, with regular performance reviews and a strong working relationship with the vendor.
- Operational Oversight. Own day-to-day physical security operations across every AUS site: access control, patrols, alarm response, and the consistent application of security policies and post orders. Keep sites appropriately staffed, including after-hours and multi-site coverage, and manage callouts and roster gaps.
- Access Control & Perimeter Security. Enforce access procedures for people, vehicles, and materials entering and leaving our sites. Own physical site access and badging — onboarding and offboarding access, visitor and contractor passes, and site-access checks — and oversee parking and pedestrian-flow protocols.
- Incident Response & Investigation. Act as first responder and on-call escalation point for security incidents, alarms, and emergencies. Run the initial response, secure the scene, conduct preliminary investigations, document findings, and escalate to the Security Officer. Lead after-action reviews for security events and policy violations, and refine response protocols to reduce impact.
- Security Systems & Monitoring. Ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and monitoring of physical security technologies — access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection. Coordinate alarm monitoring and response (in-house or via a monitoring provider), manage faults and servicing with vendors, and support the evaluation and rollout of new or upgraded systems as sites are added or expanded.
- Security Risk & Vulnerability Assessments. Run regular physical security assessments across the AUS sites — access control, perimeter, CCTV, alarms, visitor management, and overall site vulnerability. Identify site-level risks and put practical mitigations in place.
- Policy & Procedure. Develop, maintain, and drill site security procedures, post orders, and emergency and evacuation plans, aligned to the PSPF, DSPF, and each site's security plan. Contribute to crisis-management and business-continuity planning for the sites you cover.
- Industrial Security Support. Support security at classified facilities under the Security Officer — enforcing access, escort, and zone controls and the physical handling of classified holdings.
- Audit & Compliance Execution. Partner with the Security Officer on audit preparation — physical security evidence, records, and self-inspections — including preparing for and supporting Defence assessments such as DISP audits by providing operational data and facilitating access.
- Stakeholder Coordination. Work daily with site and operations leadership, Facilities, People, and WHS to fold security into operational workflows, and maintain working relationships with building management, vendors, police, and emergency services.
- Training & Awareness. Deliver toolbox training and security-awareness briefings to guards and site staff, and contribute to security risk assessments for sites, events, and visitor and VIP movements.
- Resource Management. Help manage operational security resources — equipment, supplies, and personnel — and contribute to the AUS security operations budget: input to planning, sensible use of resources, and accurate reporting of operational spend. Budget ownership rests with the Senior Manager of Security, APAC.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' hands-on experience in physical or protective security operations, including guarding and security supervision — ideally in a Defence, government, critical-infrastructure, or otherwise highly regulated environment.
- A current security licence valid in New South Wales (guarding / Class 1), or eligibility to obtain one, with the ability to hold equivalent licences in the other states and territories where Anduril operates.
- CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations (or equivalent) underpinning that licence.
- CPP40719 Certificate IV in Security Management, or demonstrated equivalent supervisory experience with a commitment to complete it.
- A track record of leading or supervising a guard force or security team — rostering, post orders, performance, and on-the-ground leadership.
- Sound, independent judgement in both routine and unpredictable situations; able to run day-to-day operations with review at key milestones rather than step-by-step direction.
- Credibility with senior internal stakeholders and external counterparts (Defence, police, emergency services, vendors), with clear written and verbal incident reporting.
- Working knowledge of Australian protective security requirements (PSPF, DSPF) and of physical security controls for classified environments.
- Hands-on experience operating and monitoring security technologies such as CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
- Australian citizenship (mandatory), and willingness to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
- Current first-aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- A full, clean Australian driver's licence for regular travel between sites.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some nights, weekends, and on-call support for critical incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- An existing NV1 (or higher) security clearance, or an active clearance at any level.
- A tertiary qualification in security or risk management, criminal justice, or a related field, or equivalent supervisory experience.
- Experience in a DISP member environment, with familiarity with DISP obligations and deep-dive audit preparation.
- Experience supervising security across multiple sites or jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with SCEC-endorsed physical security equipment, security zones, and Type 1 alarm systems.
- Familiarity with Security Operations Centre (SOC) or monitoring-centre workflows and reporting.
- Progress toward CPP50619 Diploma of Security and Risk Management, or study in security risk analysis.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ASIAL, ASIS CPP or PSP).
- Emergency-management, warden, or crisis-response training.
- A background in the ADF, policing, or protective services.
Growth Path
This is a foundational hire for Anduril's Australian security operations, scoped today as a hands-on, multi-site physical security lead. As our footprint grows and the regional security team is built out under the Senior Manager of Security, APAC, this role opens onto broader security-operations leadership across the Asia-Pacific.
Location
Sydney-based, with regular travel to Anduril's other Australian sites. Some out-of-hours and on-call work is expected.
