Millennium Space Systems is a Boeing subsidiary (~850 employees) in El Segundo, CA that designs and builds small satellites end-to-end — from design through integration, test, and mission operations.

## Key programs

**FOO Fighter (SDA)** — 8 missile defense fire control satellites for the Space Development Agency. Completed critical design review in 2025; launch targeted for late 2026. Designed to detect and track hypersonic missile threats.

**VICTUS NOX** — U.S. Space Force tactically responsive space mission.

**NASA TRACERS** — Space vehicles delivered to launch site (June 2025).

## Salary

| Role | Salary |
|------|--------|
| Aerospace Engineer | ~$103,000 |
| Manufacturing Engineer | ~$109,000 |
| Lead Engineer | ~$167,000 |
| Project Manager | ~$181,000 |
| Average (all roles) | ~$106,000 |

## What it's like

Millennium operates like a startup within Boeing — smaller teams, faster pace, and more individual ownership than typical Boeing divisions. Engineers work on complete satellite programs rather than small pieces of massive projects.

El Segundo location means high California cost of living, but the proximity to LAX and the South Bay aerospace ecosystem (Northrop, Raytheon, Aerospace Corp) creates strong career mobility.
